» PMRA, Quick 32 Sportsman Series And PBSS Thunder By The Beach Race Report
Roth, Everitt, and Catanzaro win drag race finals at Grand Bend Motorplex; 2014 Championships also declared with Roth in PMRA, Schmid in Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and Cryderman in PBSS

(8-1-2014) GRAND BEND, ON – Going into the 'Thunder by the Beach' race weekend at the Grand Bend Motorplex over the weekend, championship titles were on the line as racers took to the quarter mile in the Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series.

This was the final event of 2014 for all three series.

And when the tire smoke had settled late Sunday afternoon, 2014 season champions were declared in all three drag race series, two titles by the smallest of margins.

Going into this event, perennial PMRA racer Jeff Roth was second in Championship Point Award Series behind Bruce Boland. Roth,... [Read More]

Records smashed at new-look Jambo

(9-1-2014) WILLOWBANK, QLD – Ten of the fastest sport compact cars on the planet combined with good conditions, a sticky Willowbank track and an awesome crowd to put on a show for the ages as Factory Xtreme set about the business of breaking records…world records!

The new look Brisbane Jamboree is the largest sport compact drag racing meet anywhere with almost 200 entries, dozens of traders, sideshows and thousands of excited spectators taking in the on and off-track action. And they weren’t disappointed with the big guns coming out firing in the very first round of qualifying.

Kiwi Rod Harvey, who dominated the timesheets at the recent Winternationals with a new Australian record of 6.19sec at 237mph, clicked off an easy 6.22 @ 231mph to open his account. Collin Willshire also featured in the opening... [Read More]
» Flamholc Racing Update

(9-1-2014) KLAGSHAMM, SE – The season in Europe is officially over for Flamholc Racing.

This has been the best season ever for us! We won the Pro Extreme series, and ended up in second place in the Top Doorslammer series, even though we missed one event. Big Congrats to Jonas and Frank who won it!

Again thanks from me to the guys in our team, to my family and our sponsors! The way we all work together makes us very strong, and when I go up to the line, I always know that I have the best prepared car possible!

We only lost one round in ten races this summer, and that run we couldnt make the call due to a bad starter ring.

Now I'm looking forward to head over to the US again, and do some racing with the Daytona. In two weeks we are flying over to work on the car, and do some updates, and... [Read More]

Brogdon's Owens Corning Camaro lines up No. 16 for U.S. Nationals

(8-31-2014) INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Rodger Brogdon's Owens Corning Camaro will make its first Pro Stock start at the biggest NHRA drag race of the season, the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals, on Monday at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis.

Brogdon grabbed the No. 16 qualifying spot out of 21 cars that attempted to make the race, securing the position with a pass of 6.675 seconds at 207.43 mph.

"Of course we want to be much higher up in the order, but we don't always get our way, do we?" Brogdon said. "We haven't had the weekend we all wanted and expected with our new car, but you have to be in it to win it, and we'll give it our best shot tomorrow."

Brogdon secured title sponsorship from Owens Corning (NYSE: OC), the world's largest manufacturer of fiberglass and related products, for Indianapolis and... [Read More]

Anderson to decide his own fate on Monday at U.S. Nationals

(8-31-2014) INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Summit Racing Pro Stock driver Greg Anderson has been fighting all year. The veteran competitor who already owns four NHRA Pro Stock world championship trophies missed the first five races of the season as he recovered from heart surgery and upon his return consistently raced with a determined edge, regularly leaving the starting line ahead of his competitors and flying down the racetrack in pursuit of enough win lights and bonus points to work his way into the top 10 for a chance to battle for the trophy in the Countdown to the Championship playoffs.

Anderson achieved the initial goal of moving into the elite group of 10, and on Monday at the 60th annual Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals, his future will be decided by his own hand as he takes on rookie Jonathan Gray, who is just a round and a half away... [Read More]
» Larry Morgan NHRA U.S. Nationals Final Race Report
Morgan remains optimistic after early exit in Indianapolis

(8-31-2014) INDIANAPOLIS, IN – By just one-thousandth of a second Pro Stock driver Larry Morgan barely missed capturing the final spot in the ultra-competitive 16-car field of the 60th annual U.S. Nationals at Lucas Oil Raceway.

The Lucas Oil Ford Mustang laid down a pass of 6.676 seconds in the fourth session of qualifying, landing him just outside the 16th spot held by Rodger Brogdon's 6.675 pass earlier in the same session. Morgan tried to outrun Brogdon in the final session but just couldn't find that fraction of a second to change his fate.

"It is what it is, honestly," Morgan said. "We just missed the mark this weekend. I really feel like we could have qualified. We had worked so hard to get the engine tune-up right, and I think we were finally close to getting it right but I over-shifted in low gear in that last... [Read More]

Pro Stock superstar Enders-Stevens begins pursuit of first U.S. Nationals title from No. 5 spot

(8-31-2014) INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Before Engines Inc. driver Erica Enders-Stevens can dream about winning the U.S. Nationals, she'll have to get past her husband.

Enders-Stevens qualified No. 5 for the Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals on Monday at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis, meaning she'll race the No. 12 qualifier in the first round. That happens to be her Elite Motorsports teammate and husband Richie Stevens.

"It's not what we came here to do, by any means," Enders-Stevens said. "We brought Richie and his car out because we needed him to take out some of the heavy hitters in points for us, but to come out here and run each other first round.

"I won't treat running him any different than I treat running (Allen Johnson) or Jeg (Coughlin Jr.) or Jason (Line).... [Read More]

Trio of Gray Motorsports Chevrolets prepared for intense battle at U.S. Nationals

(8-31-2014) INDIANAPOLIS, IN – An Indy trophy is one that every NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series driver covets, and the time has come for the best car and driver combo to emerge and claim the title at the 60th anniversary Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals. Throughout a dreary, drizzly and increasingly humid weekend, the Gray Motorsports cars emerged as top contenders for the title: Shane Gray, still in the hunt for his first U.S. Nationals trophy, will start from the No. 3 position while teammate Dave Connolly, a three-time Indy Pro Stock winner, will start fourth. Rookie of the year contender Jonathan Gray is No. 10 in the line-up and looking to make good use of his last chance to break into the top 10.

World champ Coughlin looking to win two Pro Mod races in a row

(8-31-2014) INDIANAPOLIS, IN – It has been 23 years since Troy Coughlin hoisted a coveted trophy at drag racing's biggest event, but after an incredible qualifying session for this year's Pro Mod Series presented by JEGS.com race at the 60th annual Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals, the 2012 world champion appears ready to party like it's 1991.

"We've made three really good runs," Coughlin said. "I think we were the quickest car in two sessions and No. 2 in the other, so we're obviously onto something good. Team JEGS is off to a tremendous start. Steve (Petty, crew chief) and the guys have done a great job of giving us a good, fast, consistent race car. We're ready for Round 1."

Still earning his drag racing stripes back in 1991, Coughlin accomplished the one thing on... [Read More]

World-beaters punctuate jumping Jamboree at Willowbank Raceway

(8-31-2014) WILLOWBANK, QLD – An action-packed Brisbane Jamboree has been held at Willowbank Raceway at the weekend, with the one-day format delivering multiple world and national records amid furious racing and a buzzing off-track atmosphere.

New Zealand’s Rod Harvey became the world’s quickest and fastest Sport Compact racer on his way to taking victory in the Factory Xtreme bracket, while Queensland’s Collin Willshire and New South Wales’ Alf Axiak also rewrote the record books. Willshire became the world’s fastest (and Australia’s quickest and fastest) four cylinder drag car racer in his Mitsubishi Eclipse, while Axiak became the fastest All Motor racer in Australia in his Mazda RX7.

Also drawing the applause of the crowd were Harvey’s fellow event winners Dion... [Read More]

Jason Line wins delayed Brainerd, qualifies No. 1 at U.S. Nationals

(8-31-2014) INDIANAPOLIS, IN – So far, Summit Racing Pro Stock driver Jason Line is really enjoying the 60th annual Chevrolet Performance U.S. Nationals. On Sunday, Line picked up the trophy for the rain delayed NHRA Nationals that were originally slated to take place in Brainerd two weeks ago, and he capped off the final day of qualifying for the event by securing the 37th No. 1 qualifier award of his career.

Two elimination rounds were completed at Brainerd International Raceway, Minnesota-native Line's home track, before rain put an early ending to the event and necessitated completion of the final two rounds during qualifying at the U.S. Nationals. On Saturday, Line defeated first-time semifinalist Dave River and was awarded a final-round meeting with Jeg Coughlin that would take... [Read More]

Multi-time Indy winner Coughlin ready to tack another U.S. Nationals pelt to the wall

(8-31-2014) INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Reigning Pro Stock world champion Jeg Coughlin Jr. has earned his way into the hallowed ground of Lucas Oil Raceway's winner's circle five times in the past. Now, with a car that continues to get quicker every round, he's dreaming of another gold star day at the sport's biggest event, the 60th annual U.S. Nationals.

Coughlin, who previously won three Pro Stock titles, as well as one Super Gas and one HEMI Shootout trophy at this event, has his JEGS.com/Mopar Dodge Dart on a promising streak this time through. After five rounds of qualifying he and co-crew chiefs Mark Ingersoll and Adam Hornberger have posted consecutive runs of 6.681, 6.644, 6.638, 6.635, and 6.623 seconds.

"Hopefully, we'll continue that trend," said... [Read More]
