Quick 8 Outlaws head to Orangeburg Dragstrip this Saturday

(7-28-2010) ORANGEBURG, SC – The Quick 8 Outlaws will be making their only appearance this season at 'Gator Alley' this weekend. The Outlaws have become one of the premier clubs on the East Coast because of the diverse group of power plants and great side by side races. The race fans will see several different kinds of Doorslammers, anything from a ‘40 Ford to new GTO. Not only that there will be blown, nitrous, turbocharged, ProCharged and just about everything else. There is one equalizer, for the 2010 season each competitor must have a Powerglide transmission.

Leading the charge into Orangeburg is points leader Robbie Matthews. One of the newest members this year is Shay Loveday. Shay is right on Robbie’s... [Read More]

Berner plans for short term losses to turn into long term successes

(7-28-2010) CRETE, IL – This past weekend at the ADRL Texas Drags, Pete Berner and the Summit Racing Equipment team made some pretty impressive runs. Despite their hard work and obvious talents, however, both races from the weekend turned into first round losses. The first race of the double header Berner turned on the red eye with an unfortunate .001 red. Then, he certainly looked primed for race two of the weekend, qualifying second with a stout 4.14 at 175 mph. However, despite looking flawless in several rounds of qualifying, Berner’s GXP shook in round one and he had to abort the run.

“Sometimes there are no reasonable explanations for the way things work,” told Berner. “We certainly have been pouring ... [Read More]

Last summer started a new chapter in the Nilsson Motorsports team as a blown Chevy '57 was acquired and shipped back home to Sweden, it was/is a whole new deal for the team to work and tune a blown alcohol engine but with help from different teams and guys it has been going pretty good for us. The team has... [Read More]

This year two Mountain Motor Pro Stock cars will be added to the mix. Pete Berner will bring his Summit Racing Equipment GXP to take on Bob Bertsch in a best two out of three match race exhibition.

The two Pro Stock teams will be on hand not only to give doorslammer fans something to cheer for at the Night Under Fire but also to advertise for the upcoming Summit Racing Equipment ADRL Ohio Drags IV to be held at ... [Read More]

Coughlin scores big runner-up finish in Denver

(7-25-2010) MORRISON, CO – Four-time world champion Pro Stock driver Jeg Coughlin Jr. came within a fraction of a second of a second straight victory in the Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, taking runner-up honors to Allen Johnson Sunday at the 31st annual Mopar Mile-High NHRA Nationals at Denver's Bandimere Speedway.

After racing past Erica Enders, Vinnie Deceglie, and Shane Gray with a string of strong quarter-mile passes, Coughlin experienced an issue with his motor during the burnout procedure prior to racing Johnson in the final. He still tried to put on a race, and nearly spooked his opponent into a red-light start -- Johnson left with a .004-second reaction time -- but it was all for naught as Coughlin couldn't get his JEGS... Momentum rapidly growing for Idaho's premire motorsports experience

(7-25-2010) BOISE, ID – Just about every track in the country has an event they call their “signature happening”, the “granddaddy” or even a title like “hallmark”. In Cordova, it’s the World Series. Bakersfield would have to give the nod to the March Meet. At Firebird, it’s unquestionably the Pepsi Nightfire Nationals. Three in a row for Montecalvo

(7-25-2010) BAYTOWN, TX – Extreme was the word for the weekend at the ADRL Texas Drags: Extreme racing, extreme conditions, and, for John Montecalvo and team, extremely good outcomes. Montecalvo went two for two in the Texas double-header, and after winning the last completed ADRL event in Martin, Mich. Montecalvo is on a three race winning streak. Such success has now given him the points lead in Extreme Pro Stock.

In the first race of the weekend, Monte qualified third with a 4.074 at 178.50. From there he consistently stole his way through the rounds. Richard Penland was a no-show in round one. Then Monte took out Cale Aronson and heavy hitter Brian Gahm to line up against Elijah Morton for the final. Elijah took a stab at the tree and turn... [Read More]
