» John Montecalvo/Maxam Equipment ADRL Independence Drags Preview
Montecalvo/Maxam Equipment Chevy looking forward to Topeka

(7-2-2009) CENTER MORICHES, NY – John Montecalvo won’t be flying solo at this weekend’s ADRL Hardees Independence Drags III. The racer, who for the last couple of seasons has been a self-sponsored entry, is joined by Maxam Equipment for the ADRL event in Topeka, Kan. in a one-race partnership. Maxam Equipment is a leader in asphalt engineering and plant design. The company, based out of Kansas City, Mo. will be proudly displayed on the side of Montecalvo’s Chevrolet Cobalt during a two-in-one weekend for the ADRL.

Due to an unfortunate visit from Mother Nature at the last ADRL event, the Ford Summer Drags was unable to be completed and will wrap up on Friday at Topeka. Montecalvo ousted Robert Patrick in round one of t... [Read More]

NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series heads to Lebanon Valley Dragway

(7-2-2009) WEST LEBANON, NY – Lebanon Valley Dragway will host the NHRA Northeast division Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, July 3-5. The race is the fourth of seven in the region and will feature drivers in eight categories, including 250 mph Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car, vying for points leading to divisional and national championships. The division's Top Sportsman and Top Dragster classes will run in conjunction with the event as well.

Gates at Lebanon Valley Dragway open at 8 a.m. each day. Qualifying and time trials start at 10 a.m. Friday and continue Saturday at 8 a.m. Racers in Top Alcohol Dragster and Top Alcohol Funny Car will have two qualifying runs on Friday, at 5 and 8 p.m. They will run... [Read More]
» Jeg Coughlin Jr. American Electric Power Independence Day Parade Preview
Yellow-and-Black will add excitement to Red, White & BOOM!

(7-2-2009) DELAWARE, OH – The JEGS.com Chevrolet Cobalt that Jeg Coughlin Jr. drove to the last two world championships in the Full Throttle Drag Racing Series will be the centerpiece of the American Electric Power Independence Day Parade, which begins at 6 p.m., Friday, July 3, and runs through downtown Columbus, Ohio.

The AEP Parade is part of the 29th annual Red, White & BOOM! celebration, a day-long celebration that culminates at 10 p.m. with a Fireworks Spectacular along the Columbus Riverfront. City officials are expecting more than 155,000 people at this year's Red, White & BOOM!

Coughlin's instantly recognizable, yellow-and-black race car will be displayed on a special flatbed stage that wil... [Read More]

Al-Anabi occupies three spots in SPEEDTECH Battle for the Belts standings

(7-2-2009) TOPEKA, KS – Despite two unfortunate rain-shortened events in both Memphis, Tennessee and Martin, Michigan, the American Drag Racing League rolls into Topeka, Kansas this weekend for the 3rd annual running of the ADRL Hardee’s Independence Drags with four of the Al-Anabi Racing Pro Nitrous hot rods slated to jump into the fray.

Heartland Park will undoubtedly provide a fantastic racing surface for the essentially unlimited doorslammers, but the intense heat that comes standard with the Midwestern summer will surely make the Independence Drags a tuner’s race, and fortunately for Al-Anabi Racing, they’ve got two of the best in the world in their corner.

Whilst the primary goal is to se... [Read More]

Bluebaugh planning to step up on the Competition

(7-2-2009) PHOENIX, AZ – Bluebaugh Racing’s Team Magna Fuel is in full swing with plans to step up on the competition in the second half of the season. Crew Chief Deborah Woodard said, "We have been working on details to squeeze every bit of potential out of the Magna Fuel Monte Carlo and now we are taking a really big step. We have acquired a 780 cubic inch engine with four stages of nitrous."

The team is currently in process of fitting the new engine in the Magna Fuel Monte Carlo with the help of local sponsors Fast Forward and Highway 69 Racing Products. Testing will begin next week with barely time to spare before the team is due to compete in Bakersfield later this month.

Team mate and fellow Pro Street R... [Read More]
» Pete Berner ADRL Independence Drags Preview
Berner hoping to make his own fireworks this weekend

(7-1-2009) CRETE, IL – As we roll into the holiday commemorating our country’s birth, many expect to see Independence Day fireworks. Pete Berner is no different, although he’s looking to make his own fireworks as he heads into the ADRL Hardees Independence Drags III. The last time Berner was on the ADRL scene, he was fighting a few gremlins and suffered a first round loss. But now things are looking up for Berner, and he’s hoping to cause some excitement in Topeka.

“We’re starting to hit our stride,” says Berner. “We had some issues that we had to work through, but I think we’re over the problems we had in Martin [the ADRL Ford Summer Drags]. We won the last event we went to, so I’m hoping we can keep that momentum going in... [Read More]

PMRA returns to St. Thomas Dragway for next event of 2009

(7-1-2009) CAYUGA, ON – After a three-year absence, the Pro Modified Racing Association will return to the fable St. Thomas Dragway for the Diamond Days presented by Roffelsen Jewellers event July 11-12.

Joining the PMRA Pro Modifieds at the Sparta, Ontario-area track will be the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts for the two-day weekend of drag racing.

This race will be the third event in 2009 for both series. It will be the first time the Quick 32 Sportsman Series have raced at St. Thomas.

“We’re looking forward to returning to St. Thomas,” noted PMRA and Quick 32 Director of Operations Bruce Mehlenbacher. “The track has a long and storied history, and we’re glad to be ab... [Read More]

National Guard ADRL and Hardee’s serve up 2-for-1 special in Topeka

(7-1-2009) O’FALLON, MO – Race fans are in for a rare treat this weekend as National Guard American Drag Racing League (ADRL) competitors go after two major event wins during the Hardee’s Independence Drags III at Heartland Park Topeka, in Kansas.

Rain cut short the National Guard ADRL’s previous event last month at Martin, Michigan, after just one round of eliminations for all five of the all-eighth-mile series’ professional classes were in the books. So, Friday in Topeka will feature the three leftover rounds of racing from the Ford Drive One Summer Drags V, along with one full round of scheduled qualifying for the Independence Drags.

“It’s going to be an action-packed day,” National Guard ADRL Exe... [Read More]

R.C. Fabricators to sponsor Frank Patille’s CCI Motorsports Pro Mod

(7-1-2009) LANDENBERG, PA – Frank Patille is proud to announce a sponsorship agreement with R.C. Fabricators. The company is a structural steel and miscellaneous metal fabrication and erection company based in Wilmington, DE. They do commercial steel and miscellaneous metals detailing, fabrication and erection. “We are excited to have them on board. The 57’ Buick has been running strong, with a semi final round win at the Northeast Outlaw Pro Mod race at MIR, and a runner up finish at Maple Grove vs. Tommy Gray this past weekend in the rained out final makeup from the MIR race, a 6.235 giving Frank the number two qualifier spot at the “Rumble at the Grove” and with the support of R.C Fabricators, it will tak... Bankston Boyz on yellow brick road to Heartland Park Topeka

(7-1-2009) TERRY, MS – Bankston Boyz racing is primed for the trek to Heartland Park in Topeka for the July 3-4 ADRL Hardee's Independence Drags III. Hopefully Mother Nature will cooperate and keep the weather dry for this coming race weekend.

This is the second ADRL race in a row that the Bankston Boyz will have a car running 2 races in one. Stan Allen won his first round matchup from the rain shortened Michigan race. Stan’s round win in Michigan was costly when a valve malfunction resulted in a nitrous explosion that obliterated the hood scoop and cracked the front end in a couple of places. Maybe the 2 races in one are a good omen for the Bankston Boyz. Tim Savell was runner-up from the rained o... [Read More]

IHRA looks to make history in Edmonton

(6-30-2009) EDMONTON, AB – While 2009 has so far been plagued with financial woes and a variety of problems for sporting events across the globe, for the International Hot Rod Association, the start to the 2009 season has ironically been one of its most competitive beginnings in the nearly 40 year history of the sanctioning body.

For only the second time in IHRA history there have been no repeat winners through the first four races of the season as a dozen different drivers have claimed wins in three professional categories heading into the midway point of the ’09 Nitro Jam season.

If that trend continues in Edmonton this weekend, it will mark the first time in IHRA history there have been repeat winners through the first half of ... [Read More]

Meadors speeds to semi-finals in Sacramento

(6-30-2009) DANVILLE, CA – It was a scorcher in Sacramento last weekend for freshman Pro Mod racer Marc Meadors and the Goodguys Racing ’69 Camaro. Making his return to competition with the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Association, Meadors and the Goodguys Racing crew were looking for their second win of the season at the 33rd annual Nitro Night of Fire and had to roll the dice to do it.

After making a motor-wounding 6.37 @ 223 test run Friday, the team missed Firday’s opening round of qualifying leaving them with a one-shot, qualify-or-go-home run on Saturday afternoon in 107 degree heat! The silver Camaro streaked to a 6.354 @ 227.9 to grab the 3rd position in the 8-car program.

In Saturday evening’s eliminations, a confiden... [Read More]
